Portale

Portale

Functioning as both table and light sculpture, Portale creates an ever-changing interplay of color, light, and shadow through its layered translucent forms, transforming as natural light shifts throughout the day.

Inspired by Patricia Buse's research in cell and molecular biology, Portale draws on the ritual of preparing stacked glass slides for light microscopy, where transparent layers reveal new dimensions through light. Paired with the influence of Josef Albers' investigations into color interaction, the work translates these observations into a luminous architectural sculpture, transforming two-dimensional studies of color and transparency into three-dimensional experiences.
